Welcome To Gallup New Mexico!

Continuing the adventure along historic Route 66 is Gallup, New Mexico, just 25 miles East of the Arizona border.

Spiritually vibrant Gallup is the hub for all things Native American… including Native Americans! As the epicenter and ceremonial capital of Native America, many of the nations Navajo and Zuni call Gallup their home. The Zuni tribe, who’s Pueblo is only 35 miles south of the city, is the largest of the New Mexican pueblos. In addition, Gallup's is the largest exporter of Native American jewelry… and hosts the second largest hot air balloon festival in the world.

Gallup earned its place in entertainment history as being one of the most filmed locations in the southwest during the spaghetti western boom of the 1950 and 60’s. Gallup's proximity to some of the most magnificent landscapes on earth made it a centralized destination for film crews and celebrities. The Hotel El Ranchero is one of the most famous route 66 locations in history… hosting such notable luminaries as Ronald Regan, Gene Autry, Doris Day, Jack Benny, Errol Flynn, Mae West, Spencer Tracy… and the list goes on and on and on to well over 100!

Gallup's celebrity status holds true to this day, being featured in the Sci-Fi Channel’s The Lost Room, the major motion picture Natural Born Killers, and most recently, a music video by Akon.

Absent of anything deemed racism, the city proudly maintains its historically significant role as being an all inclusive community. Even before the civil rights movement, Gallup fought segregation of blacks and successfully refused to place its Japanese residents into wartime internment camps.

Fireball Run is excited to venture to one of, if not the most cultural destination along its 3500-mile interactive adventure…
